Electrical Arc Flash Hazard Analysis

Changes to the 2005 National Electric Code (NEC) require Arc Flash Warning Labels to be installed on certain electrical equipment in industrial facilities.  NFPA 70E "Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace" - 2004 edition and IEEE 1584 provide guidelines for conducting hazard/risk assessments to determine Arc Flash levels at each panel in the distribution system.

We have successfully performed many Arc Flash Hazard Analyses and Power Distribution System Studies at large Fortune 500 industrial facilities throughout the United States.  In most cases, we are able to make recommendations to reduce the Hazard Risk Categories (HRC) at various locations throughout the facilities.  In some cases, by changing out fuses, or circuit breaker trip units, we were able to reduce the Arc Flash Hazard levels at Motor Control Centers throughout our clients' plants from HRC #3 down to HRC #0.

We utilize computer modeling software ESA, Inc. EasyPower and SKM Analysis Power Tools to model your power distribution system.  We base our calculations on NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584 standards to determine Incident Energy Levels (cal/cm2), Flash Boundaries and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ratings.  In addition, we print custom high quality Brady polyester warning labels and aluminum signs.
